American rapper Kentrell DeSean Gaulden known professionally as YoungBoy Never Broke Again has released a new track, “Vette Motors” from his fourth studio album, “The Last Slimeto.”
The Last Slimeto serves as a follow-up to BETTER THAN YOU, YoungBoy Never Broke Again’s joint mixtape with DaBaby.
The Last Slimeto features guest appearances from Kehlani, Rod Wave, and Quavo. The album also features production from YoungBoy’s in-house producer and engineer, Jason “Cheese” Goldberg, alongside Nick “Popnick” Seeley, Palaze, Haze, and many more prestigious producers in the rap industry.
The album was first teased on Instagram by YoungBoy’s go-to engineer, Jason “Cheese” Goldberg who previewed the official artwork while also hinting at a March 2022 release. Alongside the album teaser, Jason also hinted at an end to YoungBoy’s contract with Atlantic Records, and it was later confirmed that The Last Slimeto will indeed be YoungBoy’s last album with Atlantic Records.
Through Never Broke Again LLC’s social media, it was announced that the album would be placed for pre-order on March 31, 2022; this was done alongside previewing tracks 20 to 30.
The album would feature the diss-like aggressive, viral singles, “I Hate YoungBoy” and “Mr. Grim Reaper.” The album would also feature the Quavo-accompanied “Don’t Rate Me,” alongside “Vette Motors.”
On April 1, 2022, YoungBoy released the Last Slimeto Sampler, a sample album that previewed tracks 20 to 30. Just two days later, the official album was announced alongside its release date of August 5, 2022.
On July 5, 2022, via a promotional post by YoungBoy’s label, Never Broke Again, it was announced that the entire album was recorded while on house arrest: “The Last Slimeto” Pre-Order now , a lot of surprises on this last project, recorded the whole album on house arrest, Pre-Order now.”
On the week of the album’s release, YoungBoy’s in-house producer, engineer, and the original person to announce the album Jason “Cheese” Goldberg notified fans via his Instagram that the album had officially been turned in. In the post, Jason is shown alongside Alex Junnier at the Atlantic Records’ office: “Album hand delivered! You ready??? The Last Slimeto drops in 2 days!!! 08/05”
